A counterion result is a composition measurement distinct from sequence identity and area purity. Calculation basis matters: total mass, dry material or another reference can change interpretation. Without specifying that basis, adding or subtracting percentages from different assays may produce an unsupported apparent composition.
A reading case: what to check
When reviewing certificate percentages, identify each method and denominator before reconciling them. Do not assume they must total one hundred. If peptide content is to be calculated, verify a valid analytical approach and the necessary information. Otherwise preserve the results as separate determinations.
