Vehicle and experimental controls
Vehicle is part of what an experimental system receives. It can change physicochemical conditions or assay response and therefore belongs in controls and records. Changing vehicle also changes the preparation under comparison. Compound name alone does not describe the entire intervention applied to cells, samples or instruments.
A reading case: what to check
If the compound group contains a solvent absent from the control, a difference cannot simply be attributed to the compound. Review vehicle composition and final proportion in each condition and compatibility with the system. Missing controls should appear as genuine uncertainty in the review. Do not fill that gap by assuming the vehicle was inert.
