GnRH agonist peptide analog

Leuprorelin

Leuprorelin and leuprolide name the same GnRH analog. Its bibliography includes cellular studies and polymeric release systems. The peptide entity must be distinguished from a specific formulation of encapsulated leuprorelin acetate.

This is a research reference, not a product offered in the Asciende catalog. Published studies do not establish the identity, purity or availability of a commercial preparation.

Hormonal axis, time and response type

Record time and model as well as name. A class label alone does not predict every response of a feedback system.

  • Is the entity described as an agonist, antagonist or modulator in the cited assay?
  • Are immediate response and adaptation after a different exposure distinguished?
  • Is the biomarker a direct receptor readout or a consequence of the whole axis?

Mechanism described in the literature

Leuprorelin is a GnRH agonist. Prostate cellular models examine tissue-context-dependent responses; release from a formulation matrix is a different question from receptor recognition.

Other names in the literature

  • Leuprolide
  • Leuprorelin

The context of a coculture

A study used epithelial and stromal cells from human prostate tissue. Leuprorelin was associated with reduced cell growth and increased DNA fragmentation in vitro, without a detected change in receptor expression. Viability and receptor abundance did not vary equivalently.

What controls initial release

A 2023 investigation compared PLGA microspheres containing leuprorelin acetate. Different methods examined porosity, permeability and initial compound release. Continuous monitoring distinguished some formulations better than methods based on separating samples.

A formulation also needs an identity

The work compared in vitro results with rat exposure and found differences related to particle structure. A release system's duration cannot be assigned to the isolated sequence. Interpretation requires polymer identity, microsphere properties and the analytical method.

Questions and answers

Is leuprolide a different compound?

It is an alternative name for leuprorelin; salt form and formulation must be identified separately.

Does microsphere duration describe the free peptide?

No. Release experiments evaluated the peptide together with its polymer matrix.
