Macimorelin
Macimorelin is a synthetic peptidomimetic studied as a stimulus in growth-hormone-axis function tests. Adult diagnostic evidence comes from defined designs and comparators. The molecule must be distinguished from a formulated product and from claims about sustained body changes.

Mechanism described in the literature
Official documentation describes growth-hormone secretagogue receptor activity and GH release observed in human studies. The response forms part of a dynamic test; macimorelin is not GH supplied as an ingredient, and these observations do not establish prolonged-exposure effects. An initial comparison remained incomplete
The 2013 multicenter study compared macimorelin with an arginine/GHRH test, but comparator availability changed during the study. Some participants received only the macimorelin test. Not every observation therefore came from a paired comparison, a distinction that must remain in the design summary.
Agreement and diagnostic classification
The 2018 adult crossover trial compared macimorelin with the insulin tolerance test, reporting positive and negative agreement as well as sensitivity and specificity. These are distinct indicators: sharing a classification does not make procedures identical measurements. Later analyses using different cutoffs also do not replace the prespecified analysis.
Population defines the result
In the 2013 study’s adult controls, peak GH was inversely associated with body mass index. That sample-specific association is not a universal individual rule. These studies document diagnostic performance, group composition and discrepancies; they do not turn a one-time test into evidence for other objectives.

Is macimorelin another GH preparation?
No. It is a peptidomimetic; GH is the hormone whose response was measured.
Does a diagnostic result support sustained effects?
No. The cited designs evaluated dynamic tests and did not establish prolonged-exposure outcomes.
