Orexin B
Orexin B comes from the same precursor as orexin A but is a different entity. Experimental interest includes comparing peptides within a family and identifying which receptor participates in a particular response.

Mechanism described in the literature
Orexin B is investigated within the OX1 and OX2 receptor system. In a rat study, an OX1 antagonist blocked the motor-activity response associated with orexin B.

Comparing A and B requires preserving identity
The 1998 identification work described two products of a common precursor. This explains studying them together but does not permit exchanging results. A reference about B must distinguish publications measuring B specifically from those studying the family without separating contributions.
Motor activity and other readouts differed
A rat comparison examined motor activity, grooming, startle and endocrine variables. Orexin A and B agreed on some readouts and differed on others, preventing their description as functional copies. Movement recordings do not characterize sleep, feeding or hormone responses; the design compares profiles rather than placing them on a general scale of activity.
What an antagonist adds
Blockade by the OX1 antagonist supported involvement of that receptor in the studied motor response. It did not show that every orexin B response depends exclusively on OX1. Comparisons of binding and behavioral results must retain the experimental system and measured variable.
Questions and answers
Can orexin B be described as exclusive to OX2?
Not from these sources. The cited behavioral study supports OX1 involvement in one specific response.
Does a shared precursor mean all effects are shared?
No. The comparison found both similarities and differences across experimental variables.
